How Canvas and Get Started work together

Inside each startup workspace, Canvas and Get Started help you in different ways. Canvas helps you understand the startup itself, while Get Started helps you see what is already set up and what to focus on next.

What Canvas is for

Canvas is where you see the core of your business model. It helps you understand how the startup is currently framed, including things like:

  • customer segments
  • customer problems
  • unique value proposition
  • solutions
  • unfair advantage
  • traction channels
  • revenue streams
  • key metrics
  • cost structure

Canvas is about understanding and shaping the business itself.

Use Canvas when you want to:

  • review the current business model
  • refine assumptions
  • update the startup based on what you learned
  • see the startup in one structured view

What Get Started is for

Get Started is the startup's setup and action guide. It helps you see:

  • what is already set up
  • what still needs your attention
  • the key next steps to move the startup forward

Get Started is not a full task manager and not a complete map of every possible workflow in Icanpreneur. Its job is to help you get oriented inside a startup workspace and make sure the key workflows are set up and running.

Use Get Started when you want to:

  • understand where this startup stands
  • see which core pieces are already in place
  • know what to focus on next
  • jump directly into the next meaningful step

How they work together

The simplest way to think about it is:

  • Canvas shows the current snapshot of the startup's business model and assumptions
  • Get Started helps you understand what is already set up and where to focus first

For example:

  • you open Canvas to review your business model
  • you open Get Started to see whether research, buyer personas, or GTM assets have already been created
  • you return to Canvas after research or interviews to refine your assumptions
  • you return to Get Started when you want direction on the next key step

Canvas gives you context. Get Started gives you direction.

How this usually starts

After your intro chat with IVA, Icanpreneur creates your startup and maps your business model into a Lean Canvas.

You land on Canvas first, because that is the direct output of IVA's work and gives you the right context. From there, Get Started helps you review what has already been set up and continue with the key next steps for that startup.

That is the intended mental model:

  • Canvas = understand the startup
  • Get Started = see what is set up and move the startup forward
