How to clarify the problem you want to solve

Use this when

You have a business direction in mind, but the problem you want to solve still feels too broad, vague, or hard to validate.

In Icanpreneur

  1. Open your startup workspace and go to Builder.
  2. Open the task Refine Customer Segments and Customer Problems.
  3. Go to the step What Customer Problems do you aim to address?
  4. Review the Customer Problems currently listed and check whether they describe specific obstacles your customers face.
  5. Review the Suggestions generated by IVA and use the ones that are relevant to your direction.
  6. Use the guidance in Builder to refine each problem so it reflects a real obstacle standing between your customer segments and what they need, want, or value.
  7. Make sure each problem reflects something important enough that customers may be willing to pay to solve it, and that it is not already addressed well enough by existing solutions.
  8. Link each problem to the relevant Customer Segments and make sure the listed problems do not overlap.
  9. Keep refining until the problems feel clear enough to validate through research and useful enough to guide the rest of your work.
  10. Confirm the step and continue building the rest of your business direction.

What you'll get

A clearer set of customer problems you can validate through research and use to guide the rest of your work inside Icanpreneur.
